Visualize:  Make a picture in your mind while you are reading.

Predict:  What do you think will happen next?

Question:  Ask questions about the story while you are reading.

Infer:  Draw conclusions from evidence and reasoning rather than from the author’s exact words.

Determine Importance:  What is the most important event?  Why do you think it is the most important?

Make Connections:  Did the story remind you of anything in your own life?

Summarize:  Retell the story from beginning to end.
