  • Halloween: Halloween will be celebrated at school on Friday, October 28.  Students are permitted to wear their costumes to school.  Please, no masks.

  • Spelling: Students will take home a copy of their spelling words on Monday.  The test will be Friday.  Students will practice their words in class each day.  They should also use the list for home to practice at home.  The spelling pattern this week is long o.
  • Reading:  We will read Pop’s Bridge.  The genre is Historical Fiction.  The target skills are Compare/Contrast and Story Structure.  The target strategy is Infer/Predict.  Students will take a comprehension quiz and vocabulary quiz on Friday.
  • Writing:  We will write Personal Narratives.  We are focusing on indenting, capital letters, punctuation, neat handwriting, and including a colorful picture to match our writing.
  • Math:  We will continue Chapter 1: Understand Multiplication and Division.
  • Social Studies:  We will learn about Geography.
  • Science:  We alternate units for Social Studies and Science.  Stay tuned for Science.
  • Handwriting:  Students will practice printing.  Cursive to come later in the school year.

  • Chromebooks: Students should bring their Chromebooks to and from school daily.  Please charge Chromebooks each night.
  • NWEA: We will take the Reading and Math assessments this week.  Fall scores will be sent home once all students have tested.
  • Family Photo:  Students are encouraged to bring in a family photo to hang up in our classroom for the school year.  All photos will be returned at the end of the year.

  • Third Grade Handbook:  The Third Grade Handbook was sent home on Friday.  Please review it with your child, then sign and return the front page if you have not already done so.  Thank you!

Welcome to third grade!  This is the website for Mrs. Siegwald’s class.  I use this site to post our weekly newsletter each Monday.  It will list important dates for the month, announcements for the week/month, and learning objectives for the week.  The first newsletter will be posted Monday, September 5.  I am looking forward to a wonderful school year!
